AMERICA ENSNARED II
When we look back in history we should learn a lesson from the past. For 6000 years God has destroyed nation after nation because of the sin against Him. (“And nation was destroyed of nation, and city of city: for God did vex them with all adversity.” II Chron. 15:6) If we will look at history close, we will find that before God destroyed a nation, they were ensnared before they were destroyed. Ensnared means to entangle or catch in a snare.
Israel, in the days of judges, was punished for their sin by God as He used other nations to put Israel in captivity--ensnared. After the division of Israel, the Northern Kingdom suffered time after time at the hand of God as He used wicked kings and rulers and other nations to punish them for their sin. Judah, under Ahaz “did not that which was right in the sight of the LORD.” (“Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: but he did not that which was right in the sight of the LORD, like David his father.” II Chron. 28:1) (“Wherefore the LORD his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria; and they smote him, and carried away a great multitude of them captives, and brought them to Damascus. And he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who smote him with a great slaughter.” II Chron. 28:5) The reason was of their sin, “because they had forsaken the Lord God of their fathers.”
Then the Northern Kingdom got to the point God allowed Assyria to capture them and carry them away out of their land. Then Judah did not take notice to what the Lord did to the Northern Kingdom and they sinned to the point the Lord sent Babylon to capture them. After 70 years the Persians destroyed Babylon, then the Grecians destroyed the Persians, and then the Romans over ran the Grecians, and Rome was destroyed within all because of ungodly leaders forsaking the principles of God’s leadership and leading the people deeper and deeper into corruption until God finally said “that is enough.” In a sense God set a snare and said “when you cross a certain line, time is up.”
America, we had better take heed to history and learn from it. If God set a snare for Israel, His chosen nation, because of their sin, we had better beware for I believe that God has set a snare for America because of our sin. If someone sets a snare for a rabbit, they usually us a trip-stick, and when tripped the rabbit is caught and most likely eaten, thus its life is destroyed. I believe that God has at least three trip-sticks set for America. There may be more but at least three I want to deal with in this article. When these three trip-sticks are tripped, America will be ensnared and may well be on its to being destroyed.
1. Abortion. Dealt with in the last Persuader.
2. Homosexuality
A homosexual is one who has sexual desires for another of his or her own sex. This is sodomy which is defined in the 1965 Webster’s dictionary, but not in the 1994 version, as abnormal sexual relations between persons of the same sex or between a person and an animal. A sodomite, defined in the 1965 Dict. And not even in the 1994 version, is a person who practices sodomy--so named because of the city of Sodom which was destroyed by fire for its sinfulness--homosexuality--sodomy.
Some say they are born that way and can not help it, but God forbids it. (“There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel.” Deut. 23:17) “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.” Lev. 18:22) (“If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.” Lev. 20:13) The Bible also shows King Asa did right (“And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did David his father. And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.” I Kings 15:11-12)--he had them killed. Some say that is OT but the NT says it is against nature. (“For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.” Rom. 1:26-27)
God forbids it but our government in the last few years has allowed them rights. First they opened up the military for them with a don’t ask, don’t tell policy and now they can serve openly. President Clinton appointed known homosexuals to the Cabinet of the White House. In fact the majority of the White House staff in Clinton’s administration had homosexuals tendencies. Also the homosexuals contributed millions to Clinton’s re-election.
Churches (so called) are ordaining them to the ministry and performing gay marriages. Lord help! In the last 25 years there has been case after case concerning this issue and each time it seems a little more ground was gained to get their agenda passed. Then on June 26, 2015 the Supreme Court ruled 5 to 4 that same sex couples have the right to marry in all 50 states. Lord help us!
It doesn’t matter how many laws are passed in favor of homosexuality, God is not in favor of it. In fact, the Bible states plainly in I Cor. 6:9-10 and Gal. 5:19-21 that those who habitually practice this sin, will not be in heaven. In I Cor. 6:9 the use of the word “effeminate” and in Gal. 5:19 the use of the words “fornication, uncleanness, and lasciviousness” includes the sin of homosexuality. But if they have not gone too far, they can still be saved, if they will come the Lord’s way and then they will no longer practice homosexuality.
There is no doubt in my mind that the second trip-stick of homosexuality has been tripped and America is being ensnared.
3. Euthanasia
Euthanasia is a word from a Greek origin and means easy death--the act of inducing a gentle painless death. In the 80's and 90's the term became to mean deliberately terminating life to prevent unavoidable suffering. “Mercy killing” and “assisted suicide” are synonyms. “Mercy killing” means putting to death a person who, due to disease or extreme age, can no longer lead a meaningful life.
Dr. Jack Kevorkian was a name we heard much about in the news about 25 years ago. He willingly helped dozens of terminally ill people end their lives and became the central figure in a national drama surrounding assisted suicide. Hitler gassed in Nazi Germany 5 to 6 million Jews to rid society of them. These two cases are forms of euthanasia.
There have been many law suits of various kinds over the last 30 years that seemingly were just stepping stones to trying to legalize euthanasia. You may say that will never happen in America. Let me tell you that what was passed in 2010--Obama Care, which contained over 2000 pages of laws that were not even read by our congressmen and senators. It contained a lot of things that will destroy our nation if all it states is allowed to be put in practice. Page 272 section 1145: Cancer hospitals will ration care according to patient’s age. In other words if you are old and have cancer, you are not productive to society so they will just send you home to die, probably give you medicine to hasten death. Page 425, lines 4-12: The government mandate advance-care planning consultations. Those on Social Security will be required to attend an “end-of-life planning” seminar (death counseling) every 5 years. Page 429, lines 13-25: The government will specify which doctors can write an end-of-life order. This is not talking about those on life support.
There are some who would deny these statement and I hope they would be right. But in spite of these things, there is coming a time when euthanasia will become our government’s national policy as well as the murder of babies and gay marriages. Two out of three trip-sticks have already been tripped and the third is close at hand.
Abortion, homosexuality, and euthanasia--three trip-sticks. When all three have been tripped, then America will be ensnared and ripe for destruction.
What can we do? (“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.” Deut. 30:19) Choose life, cast your ballot for life, stand up for life, God and right. If you don’t, you will have to answer to God. You say “You don’t give much hope for America.” No, according to scripture all nations are going to come to an end because of sin. But even if our nation ceases to exist as we know it now, God still gives hope to a remnant that will go through. I do not know about you but I want to be part of that remnant that stands for God and right.
